Afterwards you may decide to sign up for a course, or you may decide to give it further thought. If you decide to learn, you will have the opportunity to make an appointment for instruction.

Instruction takes place in four sessions on consecutive days; each is approximately one and a half hours in duration. The first session is always one-to-one instruction where you practise Transcendental Meditation for the first time; in the three subsequent lessons, more information and instruction is given on the basis of practice at home during the course.

Because it is convenient for most people, the course usually starts on a Saturday, with follow up sessions held on Sunday morning and then Monday and Tuesday evenings. However it may be possible to arrange a different schedule if this is more convenient. Feel free to ask about this.

By the end of the course you will have all the knowledge and experience you need to meditate on your own at home; you have learned a technique, not become part of a group or organisation. However once the basic course has been completed there is a thorough and comprehensive optional follow-up and support programme.

After this there is a continuing on-going programme of meditators' meetings, weekend courses and advanced courses, for those who wish to participate. However once you have learned Transcendental Meditation it is essentially something which you can do on your own.
